British heavyweight veteran Derek Chisora is set to step into the ring for what is expected to be his final fight on UK soil. The 40-year-old fighter will face Sweden’s Otto Wallin in a 12-round clash at Manchester’s Co-Op Live Arena on 8 February 2025.

With a career spanning nearly two decades, Chisora (35-13, 23 KOs) has been a formidable presence in the heavyweight division. Initially aiming for 50 professional fights before retirement, he has decided that his 49th bout will mark the end of his time fighting in the UK. Born in Zimbabwe, Chisora moved to London at 16 and has built a legacy as one of Britain’s most recognised boxing figures. His last fight, a hard-fought victory against Joe Joyce in July 2024, demonstrated that he remains a force in the ring.

His opponent, Otto Wallin (27-2, 15 KOs), is an experienced southpaw known for his resilience and technical skills. The 35-year-old Swede gained widespread recognition for pushing Tyson Fury to the limit in 2019 and has since continued to build his reputation. His most recent fight, a first-round knockout win against Onoriode Ehwarieme in July 2024, showcased his power and speed. With four wins in his last five fights, Wallin will be aiming to spoil Chisora’s farewell party.

Originally, Chisora was set to face American fighter Jarrell Miller, but a legal dispute involving Miller’s promoter forced him out of the bout. Wallin stepped in as a replacement, setting the stage for an intriguing contest between two heavyweight warriors.

Chisora, never one to shy away from a war of words, made his intentions clear at the launch press conference. “We’re going to fight. I’m going to hurt you!” he declared, sending a strong message to Wallin. The Swede, known for his calm demeanour, remains confident in his ability to handle the Londoner’s aggressive style.

Aside from the headline fight, the event will feature several exciting undercard bouts. Jack Rafferty will face Reece MacMillan in a super lightweight contest, while Zach Parker takes on Willy Hutchinson at light heavyweight. Also on the card, Masood Abdulah meets Zak Miller in a featherweight clash, and middleweight Nathan Heaney will be making an appearance in the ring.

Despite preparing for his UK farewell, Chisora has expressed interest in a potential final bout against former UFC champion-turned-boxer Francis Ngannou. “It would be great for African boxing to see two warriors from the continent face off,” Chisora said, hinting at what could be a thrilling swan song.

As the countdown to 8 February continues, fans can expect a fiery encounter between two battle-hardened heavyweights. Whether Chisora secures a memorable farewell victory or Wallin upsets the narrative, Manchester’s Co-Op Live Arena is set for an unforgettable night of boxing.
