Starting the Quest Line
The Wanted: Skillet quest line is designed as a tutorial for players to master the art of heists. The quest line consists of six stages, each offering 30,000 battle pass XP, totaling 180,000 XP for completion. The best part is that you don’t need to speak with any NPCs to start the quests. Simply drop into a game, and the quest markers will appear on your map. You can track your progress at any time by opening the map and using the story tab to find Skillet’s objectives.
Stage One: Collecting Gold Bars
The first stage of the quest requires you to collect 150 Gold Bars from safes or cash registers scattered throughout the map. These small safes and cash registers are found in various Points of Interest (POIs). For the most efficient collection, visit locales like Canyon Crossing or Masked Meadows, where jewelry and convenience stores are likely to spawn Cash Registers filled with gold. Each cash register typically contains around 50 gold bars, so you might need to visit multiple locations to complete this task.
Stage Two: Meeting Skillet
The second stage is relatively straightforward. You need to head to Skillet’s hideout and speak with him about the heist. Skillet’s hideout is located just north of Crime City within a Black Market. A quest marker will guide you to his exact location. Once you speak with Skillet, he will provide you with the details of your next steps, officially kicking off your heisting career in Fortnite.
Stage Three: Breaking into Vaults
In the third stage, Skillet tasks you with breaking into a vault. The vaults are located in five fixed positions on the map: Crime City, Masked Meadows, Seaport City, Lonewolf Lair, and Fletcher’s Train. To break into a vault, you can either use melee attacks or throw Thermite at the vault door. Thermite is commonly found in chests and on the ground, often spawning within the vault buildings to expedite the process.
Throwing Thermite at the vault door not only starts the heist but also spawns multiple NPC enemies that will try to stop you. The vault heist has five stages, each with a set duration and an NPC challenge. You can speed up the process by using additional Thermite. Once you successfully breach the vault, you can collect the rewards inside and complete this stage.
Stage Four: Sabotaging Payphones
The fourth stage of the quest line involves helping Valentina, an associate of Skillet, break into Fletcher’s personal safe. To do this, you need to sabotage three payphones in Outlaw Oasis. Upon arriving at the POI, you will find the payphones glowing white and marked with exclamation points, making them easy to locate. Simply interact with each payphone to sabotage it, completing this part of the quest.
Stage Five: Breaking into Fletcher’s Safe
The fifth stage is the most action-packed. You need to head to Outlaw Oasis and speak with Valentina about the break-in. After your discussion, Valentina will lead you to the safe’s location, where you will fight off NPC enemies together. Once all the enemies are defeated, Valentina will open the safe, and the quest will be complete. However, there is a known bug that can prevent players from speaking with Valentina if they complete her own series of Wanted quests before finishing the Skillet quests. If you encounter this issue, there’s currently no workaround, and you’ll need to wait for a fix from Epic Games.
Stage Six: Spending Gold Bars
The final stage of the Wanted: Skillet quest line requires you to spend 500 Gold Bars. You can spend these bars in various ways, such as talking with NPCs scattered around the map and purchasing items or hiring services. Alternatively, you can use Gold Bars at the various Black Markets, where you can exchange them for powerful weapons and consumables. Once you’ve spent 500 Gold Bars, you will complete the entire quest chain and receive your final XP reward.
