Unveiling the Mystery: Mariana’s Veil in Fisch

Mariana’s Veil is an expansive underwater cave system nestled deep beneath Roslit Bay in Fisch, a realm teeming with quests, puzzles, and upgrades that beckon players to explore its enigmatic depths. To embark on this adventurous journey, you’ll need a Submarine, which can only be assembled after collecting specific parts from the coral reef. The adventure begins at Roslit Bay, where Dr. Glimmerfin at the Submarine Depot guides you through the initial steps. This depot, located at coordinates (-1305, 130, 310), is your starting point and a crucial hub throughout your expedition.

Starting the Adventure with Dr. Glimmerfin

To kick off the Mariana’s Veil event, head to Roslit Bay and locate Dr. Glimmerfin at the Submarine Depot. He will provide you with a Drill, an essential tool for extracting Submarine Parts from rocks in the coral reef. Each rock requires 10 drill hits to break, and once broken, it will sink before resurfacing, allowing you to drill it again. The five Submarine Parts you need—Windows, Submarine Top, Side Fins, Metal Panels, and Back Fins—have a 5% drop chance from the rocks. Once you have collected all the parts, return to the Submarine Depot and place them on the transparent Submarine near Dr. Glimmerfin. A cutscene will play, clearing the magma beneath the reef and making your Submarine spawnable. Identifying your Submarine among others can be tricky, but checking the seats inside will reveal your in-game name.

Navigating the Depths of Mariana’s Veil

With your Submarine ready, steer it into Roslit Bay’s cove and look for the underwater rock border—this is where your descent begins. Controlling the submarine is intuitive, using E and Q to ascend and descend, and standard boat controls for horizontal movement. Each layer of the cave system is guarded by rocks that break only when you obtain the required upgrades. These upgrades are crucial, as attempting to descend without them results in instant death. The Glimmerfin Suit helps with temperature resistance but does not allow free movement in the water without a submarine.

Exploring the Volcanic Vents

The first layer, the Volcanic Vents, is located at coordinates (-2745, -2325, 865). To progress, you need the Heat Upgrade for your Submarine, which can be obtained by completing a quest. Follow the horizontal tunnel to the southeast and surface when you reach an expanse of water. This leads to a large cave at (-3420, -2275, 3765), where you’ll find an Innkeeper and Submariner. The altar in front of the Innkeeper shows images of four items you must obtain for the Heat Upgrade and a Level 1 Glimmerfin Suit: One Lava Crystal, One Inferno Hide, One Infernal Iguanafish, and One Blisterback Blenny. These items can be found by drilling orange crystal rocks or fishing in the lava pond at (-3343.3, -2028, 4076). Completing this quest unlocks the Heat Upgrade and the Level 1 Glimmerfin Suit, allowing you to stay longer in the area and complete the Bestiary.

Descending to Challenger’s Deep

Beneath the Volcanic Vents lies Challenger’s Deep, accessible at coordinates (-2630, -3830, 755). Here, you’ll need the Ice Upgrade to explore further. Navigate the tunnel to the northwest, leading to an ice-themed cave at (-835, -3295, -625), where you’ll find another Innkeeper and Submariner. The temperature mechanic in this area is similar to the Northern Summit, requiring either a Winter Cloak or a Level 2 Glimmerfin Suit for protection. To get the Ice Upgrade, drill blue crystal rocks for Ice Crystals and fish in the Ice Tunnel for Cryoskin and Polar Prowler. The Challenger’s Rod, available for 2,500,000C$, can be purchased in the Ice Fishing Cave. With the Ice Upgrade and Level 2 Glimmerfin Suit, you can now head to the next cave layer, the Abyssal Zenith.

The Abyssal Zenith: A Dark and Mysterious Realm

The entrance to the Abyssal Zenith is located at (-5375, -7390, 400). Getting to this layer involves navigating through horizontal tunnels patrolled by large anglerfish, which can throw you backward if they hit your submarine. At the end of the tunnel, a large cave made of dark rock appears at coordinates (-13420, -11050, 110). Here, you’ll find a portal back to Roslit Bay and the Rod of the Zenith, priced at 10,000,000C$. To obtain the Deep Upgrade, you need an Angler’s Lantern and your Level 2 Glimmerfin Suit. The lantern is guarded by three large anglerfish, and holding an Orca or The Kraken can temporarily put them to sleep. With the Deep Upgrade and Level 3 Glimmerfin Suit, you can now proceed to the final area, the Calm Zone.

The Calm Zone and the Veil of the Forsaken

The Calm Zone, located at (-4145, -11210, 1395), is the lowest point of Mariana’s Veil. Here, submarines are no longer useful, and exploration must be done on foot. The area is divided into two sections, with the first containing the rainbow river and the final Bestiary. To unlock the Veil of the Forsaken, the final area where the Scylla Boss Fight takes place, you must solve a series of puzzles. Dive underwater at the south end of the Calm Zone and follow the tunnel to an area with three altars and a large barred gate. Place the Magma Leviathan, Frozen Leviathan, and Crowned Anglerfish in the designated slots to unlock the gate. In the waiting room beyond, you can complete the Veil of the Forsaken Bestiary and find the Ethereal Prism Rod for 15,000,000C$. The final puzzle involves a chessboard with four Scylla heads, which must be positioned correctly to unlock a portal to the boss fight.

Conquering Scylla: The Ultimate Challenge

The fight against Scylla is one of the most dangerous encounters in Mariana’s Veil, and it’s highly recommended to battle the boss in a group. Scylla has four heads, each capable of launching a different type of fireball. If you are struck by all four types, you will die instantly and respawn at the chessboard puzzle. To defeat Scylla, you need to build a powerful Crossbow by collecting its three parts: the Crossbow Base, Crossbow Bow, and Crossbow Arrow. Once assembled, a cutscene will play, showing you launching a powerful shot that slays Scylla. With the boss defeated, you will permanently unlock access to the Veil of the Forsaken and can purchase the Leviathan’s Fang Rod for 1,000,000C$. Completing Mariana’s Veil allows you to participate in Scylla Hunts, where Scylla fish can be captured using Shark Head bait.

Mariana’s Veil is not just an adventure; it is a journey into the unknown, filled with challenges and rewards that make every step worth taking. As you explore the depths, you’ll uncover the secrets of this mysterious underwater world, making it an unforgettable experience in Fisch.
