Starting the Hot and Cold Quest

Investigating Elsa’s Ice Cavern
Elsa, always ready to assist her friends, knows exactly where the Ice Key is located. However, there’s a catch: the key is trapped in a chest under unbreakable ice. To unlock the chest, you must find and photograph the correct symbols, which will activate the magic needed to melt the ice. Head to Elsa’s Ice Cavern, nestled at the back of the Forest of Valor, and find her across the bridge in the cave. Elsa will explain the situation and show you the pedestals inside the cavern that display the symbols you need. These symbols are crucial, and they must be matched with those found in Frosted Heights and the Sunlit Plateau.
Symbol Locations and Photography
To proceed, take clear photos of the Sun pedestal and the Snowflake pedestal in the Ice Cavern. Once you have these, it’s time to venture out into the world to find the matching symbols. In Frosted Heights, look for the symbols in the following locations:
- On the far left wall next to the ramp leading from Elsa’s Ice Cavern to the left of the Frosted Heights.
- Next to the first ore rock on the left side of the Frosted Heights.
- By the top of the waterfall that flows down to the river by Elsa’s Ice Cavern.
- On a rock above the end of the river next to the cave where you found Olaf.
- In the top right corner of the Frosted Heights, to the right of Olaf’s cave.
In the Sunlit Plateau, the symbols can be found:
- On the far left of the first section of the Sunlit Plateau, overlooking the Peaceful Meadow.
- At the top of the pond in the second half of the Sunlit Plateau.
- At the far entrance to the Forgotten Lands in the second half of the Sunlit Plateau.
- On the wall in the bottom right corner of Scar’s part of the Sunlit Plateau.
- On the tall rock wall to the left of the first entrance to the Forgotten Lands.
Ensure you document five symbols in each area to successfully unlock the chest. This task requires a keen eye and a bit of exploration, making it a perfect opportunity to enjoy the beauty of Disney Dreamlight Valley’s diverse environments.
Retrieving the Ice Key
After you’ve taken the necessary photos, return to the pedestals in Elsa’s Ice Cavern. As you place the photos on the pedestals, the magic activates, and the unbreakable ice begins to melt. Once the ice is completely gone, the Ice Key is revealed. Pick it up and head back to Jasmine’s house. She’s been waiting anxiously to see if this key will finally unlock the Secret Journal. Confronting Mother Gothel and Unlocking the Secret Journal
Head inside the Giant Willow Tree and confront Mother Gothel about the stolen Enchanted Flower. With a bit of persuasion and a show of determination, you manage to retrieve the flower. Now that you have it, return to Jasmine’s house to complete the unlocking process. Interact with the Enchanted Flower, and watch as the Secret Journal finally reveals itself. Hand the journal over to Jasmine, and together, you uncover more of your character’s history. This moment is both a triumph and a moment of reflection. Jasmine is one step closer to solving the secrets of the journal, but she also suggests taking a break before continuing the quest. To complete this plotline, you’ll need to reach Level 10 Friendship with Jasmine, ensuring more adventures and revelations to come.

Reaching Level 10 Friendship will require more time and effort, but it’s an opportunity to strengthen your bond with her and other residents of Dreamlight Valley.
