Understanding the Core of Two Point Museum: Exhibits and Perks
Exhibits are the heart and soul of Two Point Museum, driving the gameplay loop and captivating visitors with their unique charm. To keep your museum thriving, you need to not only decorate and clean your exhibits but also enhance them with Perks. These Perks boost various stats and provide essential benefits, making them a crucial element of your museum management. However, the game doesn’t offer a detailed tutorial on how to equip Perks, so we’re here to guide you through the process step-by-step.
What Do Perks Do?
Perks are special abilities that enhance an Exhibit’s performance in various ways. They range from boosting the entertainment value to protecting the exhibit from theft. Some of the most immediately useful Perks include:
- Buzz Boost: This Perk generates more Buzz, which is a key metric for attracting visitors and maintaining their interest.
- Dust Proof: This Perk prevents the exhibit from decaying, ensuring it remains in pristine condition without the need for constant cleaning.
Perks can significantly improve the overall appeal and functionality of your exhibits, making them more engaging and valuable to your visitors.
How to Unlock Perks
Before you can equip Perks, you need to unlock them. There are two primary methods to achieve this: Deconstruction and Expeditions.
Deconstruction
Deconstruction involves dismantling an exhibit to unlock its Perks and gain additional Knowledge. To start the process, you need to build an Analysis Room, which costs $30,100 and takes up a 4×4 space. Inside the Analysis Room, you’ll place a Deconstructor, which costs $25,000. Once you have both, you can place an exhibit in the Deconstructor to begin the research.
However, deconstruction is a permanent process; the exhibit will be destroyed once it’s been researched. The time required to fully research an exhibit can vary from 20 to 50 days. The rewards are well worth the investment, as you’ll unlock valuable Perks and Knowledge that can be used to enhance other exhibits.
Expeditions
The second method to unlock Perks is by embarking on Expeditions with your Bungle Wasteland museum staff. To access the Bungle Wasteland museum, you need to earn stars in the Memento Mile, Passwater Cove, and Wailon Lodge museums. Once you have the Bungle Wasteland museum, you can send your staff on expeditions to explore Bungle Burrows. These expeditions can yield a variety of useful Perks, though this method is exclusive to the science-themed Bungle Wasteland Hospital.
How to Install Perks
Now that you have unlocked some Perks, it’s time to install them on your exhibits. Here’s a step-by-step guide:
- Select an Exhibit: Click on the exhibit you want to enhance. Perks are located right below the Traits section on the main Overview tab.
- Add a Perk: Look for the plus sign next to your exhibit’s quality and click on it to add a Perk. On consoles, press the Square button (PS4/PS5) or X button (Xbox) to snap onto the exhibit menu, then use the control pad or stick to scroll down and select the Perk.
- Assign a Janitor: Janitors perform the Perk installation, so make sure you have some available. Once a Janitor is assigned, the Perk will be installed, and you’ll see the effects immediately.
Perks do not fade or disappear over time, and you can delete them manually if you wish to replace them with a different Perk. However, once a Perk is deleted, it’s gone forever, so choose wisely.
Compatibility and Perk Slots
Not all exhibits are compatible with every Perk. You may need to try multiple exhibits to find one that can support a specific Perk. Additionally, the quality of an exhibit determines how many Perks can be equipped to it. Exhibits of Great quality and higher can have Perks added to them, with Pristine-quality exhibits offering the most Perk slots.
Making the Most of Your Perks
To get the best out of your Perks, it’s essential to understand their specific benefits and how they can enhance your exhibits. Regularly check your exhibits’ performance and adjust your Perks accordingly. For example, if an exhibit is losing visitors due to low entertainment value, consider adding a Buzz Boost or another entertainment-focused Perk.
By carefully managing your Perks, you can significantly enhance the visitor experience and ensure your museum remains a top destination. With the right combination of Perks, your exhibits will shine, and your museum will thrive.
