Introduction to Pop-Up Camps in Monster Hunter Wilds

In Monster Hunter Wilds, the experience of hunting and exploring the vast, treacherous environments is greatly enhanced by the introduction of Pop-up Camps. After successfully completing Chapter 1-3: Forest Findings, where you take down the formidable Congalala, you are rewarded with four Camping Kits. These kits enable you to establish temporary bases in strategic locations, providing rest, recovery, and a place to prepare for your next hunt. However, the game’s complex user interface can make setting up these camps a bit daunting for new players.

Finding the Right Spot for Your Pop-Up Camp

Before you can set up a Pop-up Camp, you need to locate a suitable campsite. These sites are pre-determined and cannot be placed arbitrarily. They are marked on your map and are also listed at the Support Team once you discover them. The interactive map provided can be a valuable tool for finding these locations, and we are continually updating it as more sites are discovered. Detailed guides for finding Pop-up Camps in the Windward Plains and Scarlet Forest regions are also available to help you navigate these areas more effectively.

Setting Up a Pop-Up Camp Using a Camping Kit

To set up a Pop-up Camp using a Camping Kit, you need to follow a specific sequence of steps. First, approach the cloud of Quatreflies (bright yellow butterflies) that mark the campsite. Once you are near the location, hold L1 (PS4) or LB (Xbox) to open the Item Bar. Use the Square (PS4) or X (Xbox) button to scroll left and the Circle (PS4) or B (Xbox) button to scroll right through the Item Bar until you locate the Camping Kit. Release the L1/LB button and press Square (PS4) or X (Xbox) to use the Camping Kit. A confirmation screen will appear; select "Set Up Camp" and then confirm with "Yes." Your new Pop-up Camp will be assembled before your eyes, ready for use.

Troubleshooting Missing Camping Kits

If the Camping Kit is not visible in your Item Bar, it’s likely that you have accidentally hidden it. This is a common issue that can be easily resolved. Open the menu and navigate to the "Items & Equipment" tab. From there, select "Check Pouches" and then go to "Item Pouch." Highlight the Camping Kit and press X (PS4) or A (Xbox) to show it in the Item Bar. Ensure that the small pouch icon on the Camping Kit icon is white, not red, indicating that it is visible and available for use.

Using the Support Team to Set Up Pop-Up Camps

An alternative and often more convenient method to set up Pop-up Camps is to use the Support Team. This approach is particularly useful if you are in a hurry or prefer a streamlined process. To do this, speak to the Pop-up Camp Meowster at any Base Camp. Select "I’d like a Pop-up Camp built," then choose "Manage Pop-up Camps." From there, select the region where you want the camp to be built. You will be presented with a list of all the available Pop-up Camp locations you have discovered in that region. Choose your desired location, confirm "Set Up Camp," and select "Yes." The camp will be set up without a visual assembly process, but "Camp set" will appear next to the chosen location on the list.

Enhancing Your Hunting Experience with Pop-Up Camps

Pop-up Camps are more than just a convenient resting spot; they are a crucial part of the Monster Hunter Wilds experience. They provide a base for rest and recovery, a place to prepare meals, and a safe haven from the dangers of the wild. By understanding how to set up these camps efficiently, you can maximize your time in the game, allowing you to focus on the thrill of the hunt and the exploration of its vast, beautifully designed environments. Whether you choose to set up camps manually with a Camping Kit or through the Support Team, the flexibility and utility of Pop-up Camps make them an indispensable tool for any hunter.
