Introduction to Finger of God in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2
In the vast and immersive world of Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, the main story quests are often long and complex, filled with numerous sub-objectives that can significantly alter the course of the narrative. One such pivotal quest, "Finger of God," takes place around the midpoint of the Trosky region and brings about a dramatic shift in Henry’s fate. This quest unfolds after you complete the "Divine Messenger" questline and regain control of Henry following a brief episode as Father Godwin. The stage is set at Nebakov Castle, where you will need to prepare for an impending battle against Otto von Bergow, a formidable opponent. Here’s a detailed guide on how to start and complete this critical quest.
Starting Finger of God
Once the cutscene with Father Godwin concludes and you regain control of Henry, you’ll find yourself in the courtyard of Nebakov Castle. Father Godwin will immediately guide you towards your first objective: performing the last rites for fallen allies and burying their remains. If you don’t have a spade, pick up the nearby shovel to get started. Burying three of the fallen soldiers will complete this initial task. Afterward, Godwin will instruct you to follow him back to Nebakov Castle to proceed with the next steps.
Handgonne Tutorial at the Practice Range
Godwin will lead you to the practice range, where one of the guards will introduce you to the Handgonne, an early medieval firearm. This is the first gunpowder weapon you’ll encounter in the game, and while it is powerful, it is notoriously inaccurate. During the practice session, you’ll learn that the Handgonne is most effective at point-blank range. After completing the tutorial, you’ll be given free rein to explore the castle and assist its residents. Each person you help will improve your reputation, making future interactions and transactions easier.
Helping the Groom
Your next task involves assisting Groom Peltzel at the stables. Despite his initial reluctance, Peltzel will agree to work with you if you provide him with three horseshoes. You can either use Knight’s Horseshoes or Farmer’s Horseshoes. If you don’t have them, visit the forge and talk to Apprentice Bull. You can buy one horseshoe from Bull and craft the remaining two yourself. Once you have all three horseshoes, return to Peltzel to complete this objective. While you’re in the stables, consider helping Peltzel by carrying some sacks onto a cart for additional reputation points. After fulfilling this request, head back to the castle to talk to Bull.
Winning Over the Blacksmith Apprentice
Apprentice Bull, still harboring a grudge against you for your involvement in his master’s death, will initially refuse to help. However, with a few successful speech checks, you can persuade him to cooperate. Bull will then ask you to repair the damaged weapons in his forge. Gather three different weapons from the nearby barrel and sharpen them on the sharpening wheel until they reach maximum sharpness. Alternatively, use any Blacksmith Kits you have to repair the weapons quickly and efficiently. Once the weapons are restored, return them to Bull to gain his favor and additional reputation. After this, proceed to the main building for your next challenge.
Reconnecting with Klara
Klara, a familiar face from your previous visit to Nebakov Castle, can be found near the main building. She is arguing with two guards about treating their enemies with mercy. Initially, Klara is not pleased to see you. However, you can either convince or fight the guards to gain entry into the building. Klara will then request your help in treating the wounded soldiers. If you have adequate levels in Survival, Thievery, Craftsmanship, and Alchemy (preferably over 15), you should be able to diagnose and treat the patients effectively. You will need Fever Tonicum, Schnapps, Painkiller Brew, Chamomile Brew, Marigold Decoction, and Bandages. Successfully treating the patients will earn you Klara’s gratitude and a chance to revisit your romantic relationship. Before retiring for the night, ensure you have completed all activities, such as playing Dice with Hans Capon, and prepare a stock of Marigold Decoctions for yourself.
Defending Nebakov Castle
The climax of the "Finger of God" quest arrives with a surprise attack on Nebakov Castle. Otto von Bergow, having made contact with his true master, leads the combined forces of Troskowitz and a fragment of the Prague militia under Markvart von Aulitz. The battle begins on the castle’s battlements, where you should use a bow or crossbow to eliminate as many of the advancing enemy soldiers as possible. As the numbers grow, enemies will attempt to scale the walls using ladders. Equip a Voulge from the nearby armory and push the ladders down to prevent them from reaching the top. After clearing the battlements, follow Zizka’s instructions to head to the gate. Here, you will have the opportunity to earn the "Rock and Stone!" achievement by dropping a boulder on an enemy’s head.
Once the gate area is secured, climb tadderhe l to the next section, where you will face a raiding party alongside the castle’s soldiers. Eliminate the raiders to progress further, and then head back to the main castle building. Zizka will warn you that the enemy is up to something. Clear the remaining enemies and watch the dramatic ending unfold. The "Finger of God," a colossal prototype cannon, will be revealed and will fire upon Nebakov Castle, causing significant damage. The roof collapses on the survivors, including Henry, Godwin, and Zizka, leaving Henry unconscious and marking the end of this intense questline.
The Aftermath and Next Steps
Upon regaining consciousness, Henry finds himself in a cart, along with Godwin and Zizka, en route to Troskowitz Castle. Sir Hans Capon has been taken hostage and will be ransomed, adding another layer of tension to the story. "Finger of God" is a crucial turning point in the game, setting the stage for the "Storm" quest, which concludes the Trosky section of Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. This quest not only tests your combat skills but also your ability to navigate complex social dynamics and make crucial decisions that will impact the future of your journey.
By following these steps and completing each objective, you’ll ensure that Henry and his allies are well-prepared for the challenges ahead and that you can seamlessly progress into the next phase of the game.
