Lauren Crump’s Stellar Victory at the 2025 Justin Rose Junior Championship

England Golf Girls’ Squad star Lauren Crump has secured an impressive victory at the 2025 Justin Rose Telegraph Junior Golf Championship, held at the picturesque Quinta do Lago in Portugal. The 16-year-old, who showed remarkable consistency throughout the tournament, began with a strong 2-under 70 on day one and followed it up with a 1-under 71 on day two, positioning herself at the top of the leaderboard heading into the final round. Despite an early bogey on the final day, Lauren’s resilience and skill shone through as she eagled the par-5 5th hole and birdied four consecutive holes from 14 to 17, closing with a 71 (-1) to finish six shots clear of her nearest competitor, Zoe McLean-Tattan. This victory adds to Lauren’s already impressive list of titles, including back-to-back English Girls’ Championship and English Women’s County Champion of Champions wins in 2025. Reflecting on her triumph, Lauren expressed her pride and joy, stating, “This is such an amazing way to finish off 2025. The back nine was particularly crucial, and after the birdie on 14, I knew we had this!”

A Thrilling Final Day for Lauren

Lauren’s final day at the championship was a testament to her mental fortitude and technical prowess. Despite a tentative start on the front nine, she managed to regain her composure and execute her strategy flawlessly on the back nine. Her eagle on the par-5 5th hole was a significant turning point, but it was her consecutive birdies from holes 14 to 17 that sealed her victory. “After the birdie on 14, I said to myself, ‘I want more,’ and knowing there was a par-5 and a couple of easier par-4s, I told myself we’ve got this!” Lauren’s performance not only showcased her exceptional golfing skills but also her ability to stay calm under pressure, a trait that sets her apart as a rising star in the world of junior golf.

Notable Performances from Fellow England Squad Members

While Lauren’s win was the highlight of the tournament, several other members of the England Golf Girls’ Squad also delivered commendable performances. Charlotte Naughton, another England Golf teammate, finished in third place with an overall score of +6, demonstrating her own potential and resilience. Youngster Daisy Lee, who is also part of the England Girls’ Squad, secured a fifth-place finish with a total score of +11. These results underscore the depth of talent within the English junior golf ranks and the competitive spirit that defines these young athletes.

Charlie Rusbridge’s Back-to-Back Triumph

Charlie Rusbridge, a 17-year-old from Essex, has achieved a remarkable feat by winning back-to-back Justin Rose Telegraph Junior Golf Championship titles. After his victory in 2024, Charlie returned to Quinta do Lago this year, showing no signs of complacency. He shot rounds of 73, 70, and 69 to finish 4-under, securing his second consecutive title. The Colne Valley golfer entered the final day with a four-shot lead and extended it with four brilliant birdies on the front nine, ultimately winning by three shots over Scotland’s Kai Laing. “It was a bit more stressful this year,” Charlie admitted, “but it feels really cool to get the win. I was being chased down, but I made some crucial birdies and managed to keep my focus.”

Charlie’s Journey and Future Aspirations

Charlie’s path to victory in 2025 was not without challenges. He acknowledged the pressure and the unexpected competition, particularly after missing a small putt on the 2nd hole and seeing his lead diminish. However, he rallied with three consecutive birdies, demonstrating his ability to perform under pressure. “I just kept trying to do the same things I’d been doing all week and not force anything. I knew I was playing nicely and doing some good things, and it was nice for it to all come together at once,” he said. Looking ahead, Charlie has set his sights on becoming the first person to win three consecutive Justin Rose Telegraph Junior Golf Championship titles. Despite a tough year that included only one early victory in France, Charlie is optimistic about the future. “To finish the year like this is pretty cool,” he concluded, highlighting the significance of this achievement in his golfing career.

Strong Showings by Other England Boys’ Squad Members

In addition to Charlie’s dominant performance, several other members of the England Golf Boys’ Squad also had strong showings. Thomas Hartshorne from Teesside finished in fourth place, six shots behind the winner, while Ben Sessions from Bishop’s Stortford and Justin Chenu from Rochester & Cobham tied for fifth with a score of +5. Alex Boyes, another young talent from the England Boys’ Squad, placed seventh with a score of +7. These results not only highlight the competitive nature of the tournament but also the depth of talent within the English junior golf community. The future looks bright for these young golfers, who are poised to make significant impacts in the world of golf in the coming years.
