Expanding Horizons: The Fighting Nerds Set Sights on the United States

The Fighting Nerds, a prominent MMA team known for its success and innovative training methods, is set to expand its reach beyond Brazil and into the United States. Mauricio Ruffy, a rising star in the UFC with a 2-0 record, recently announced the opening of a new branch in New Hampshire. This move marks a significant step for the team, which has been a powerhouse in the Brazilian MMA scene for years. Ruffy, who will face King Green at UFC 313 in Las Vegas, shared the news with MMA Fighting, emphasizing the team’s excitement and the strategic importance of this new location.

A Dream Come True: The Vision Behind the Expansion

The new Fighting Nerds location in New Hampshire is not just a physical space but a symbol of the team’s growing influence and ambition. Mauricio Ruffy, alongside his business partner Yann Oliveira, striking coach Lee Alves, and Fighting Nerds founder Pablo Sucupira, is spearheading the project. The exact location and opening date are yet to be announced, but the team is already brimming with enthusiasm. "It’s going to be great to have a better space for the Fighting Nerds here in the United States," Ruffy said. "We’ll have a place to train, with accommodation for everybody. We’ll also welcome other athletes, create openings for athletes to train there as well. There’s a lot of people interested in coming in, and I’m thrilled."

The Team Behind the Success

The Fighting Nerds are more than just a collection of talented fighters; they are a well-coordinated team with a strong support system. Yann Oliveira, who boasts a perfect 7-0 professional MMA record and is a two-division Combat FC champion, is a key figure in the expansion. Lee Alves, with his extensive experience in training top-tier fighters like Alex Pereira, will play a crucial role in the team’s success in the U.S. Ruffy himself has seen significant growth under Alves’ guidance, and he is confident that the new facility will further enhance their training and performance.

Strategic Training and Competitive Edge

The new location in New Hampshire will serve multiple purposes. Ruffy plans to continue training in Sao Paulo but will use the U.S. facility to finish camps ahead of UFC fights. This dual-location strategy is designed to provide the best possible training environment for the team. "I’m always here [in the United States], and fighters are always traveling," Ruffy explained. "For example, if I have a fight booked and I’m coming to the United States, I’ll train here for a couple of months, or vice versa. It’s going to make things easier for us." Other team members, including Caio Borralho, Jean Silva, Carlos Prates, and Bruna Brasil, are equally excited about the new setup. The presence of Lee Alves and Pablo Sucupira ensures that the high standards of training and mentorship will be maintained.

Building a Community of Champions

The Fighting Nerds are not just focused on their own success; they are dedicated to building a community of champions. The new facility will be open to other athletes, fostering a collaborative and competitive environment. "We’ll welcome other athletes, create openings for athletes to train there as well. There’s a lot of people interested in coming in, and I’m thrilled," Ruffy emphasized. This approach not only benefits the Fighting Nerds but also contributes to the overall growth and development of MMA in the United States.

Looking Ahead: The Next Chapter in MMA

As Mauricio Ruffy prepares to face King Green at UFC 313, the expansion of the Fighting Nerds to the United States is a testament to the team’s ambition and vision. With a solid foundation in Brazil and a new base in the U.S., the Fighting Nerds are poised to make a significant impact on the global MMA landscape. "This is a dream come true," Ruffy said, encapsulating the team’s spirit and determination. The future looks bright for the Fighting Nerds, and MMA fans around the world can expect to see more exciting developments from this dynamic and talented group.
