Welcome Back to Teamsheet
Welcome back to Teamsheet, Mail Sport’s unique football memory game that adds a fun twist to testing your football knowledge. It’s the perfect opportunity to challenge your mates and see who really knows their stuff. Today, we’re taking you back to a memorable encounter in 2011 when Manchester United, under the legendary leadership of Sir Alex Ferguson, were in hot pursuit of another Premier League title. The stage was set at the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal’s home ground, where the Red Devils faced a tough test against the Gunners. Despite their best efforts, Manchester United fell to a 1-0 defeat that day, a result that significantly impacted the title race, though they ultimately managed to clinch the league at the end of the season.
The Challenge
We want to put your football memory to the ultimate test by asking you to name the Arsenal team that started that pivotal match. It’s a game that many fans will recall, with key players like Robin van Persie and Cesc Fàbregas leading the charge for the Gunners. But can you remember the full lineup? This challenge is not just about the stars; it’s about every player who stepped onto the pitch that day. See how many you can recall and share your score with your friends to spark some friendly competition. It’s all in good fun, so give it a shot and see how you fare!
How to Play
The aim of the game is to score as few points as possible. Each correct guess at a player’s name on your first attempt earns you just one point. This means the lowest possible score for correctly guessing the entire starting XI is 11. However, if you’re struggling, the game will give you hints in the form of colored letters. A green letter indicates that you’ve guessed a correct letter in the right position, while a yellow letter means you’ve guessed a correct letter but in the wrong position. You have six attempts to guess each player’s name, and if you exhaust all your guesses, the player’s identity will be revealed, costing you 11 points.
Scoring System
To add a bit of strategy to the game, you can ask for a free letter, but it comes at the cost of one point. This can be a life-saver if you’re stuck, but use it wisely to keep your score as low as possible. If you manage to guess a player’s name within your six attempts, you’ll score points based on the number of attempts you took. For example, if you guess a player’s name on your third attempt, you score three points. The game is designed to challenge your memory and your deductive reasoning, making it both fun and engaging.
Share Your Score
After you’ve completed the game, share your score with your friends on social media or via text. Whether you aced it with a perfect 11 or struggled a bit, it’s all about the fun and the challenge. You can even pick any team from the past and try to guess their starting XI to mix things up. The game is a great way to relive memorable moments from football history and see who among your friends is the true football guru.
Best of Luck!
So, are you ready to put your football knowledge to the test? Remember, the goal is to score as few points as possible, so take your time, use the hints strategically, and try to recall every player from that Arsenal starting lineup. Whether you’re a die-hard Manchester United fan or an Arsenal supporter, this game will keep you on your toes. Best of luck, and we hope you enjoy this trip down memory lane!
